With Don Matteo 2, Andrea Barzini returns to work in Italy after a lengthy period working in the U.S., where among other projects he directed the film for television "Alexandria Hotel" (1998) with Rod Steiger, Stefano Dionisi and Valeria Golino. In the '90s he earned critical and box-office success with two comedies: "Italia - Germania 4-3" (1990) written by Umberto Marino and starring Massimo Ghini, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Giuseppe Cederna, Nancy Brilli, and "Volevamo essere gli U2" (1992), a film treatment of a work by Marino, starring among others Enrico Lo Verso. |
