	An unfaithful husband is murdered apparently because of jealousy. His wife is accused of the crime. Don Matteo is confronted with a dear childhood friend who happens to be the mother of the suspect. She claims all responsibility for the murder.

	A theatrical company comes to town to premiere an original play. The death of the stagehand in charge of the lighting during a rehearsal puts the whole play at risk. The star of the production, Irina Platt, is not able to continue with her role because of her fear and superstitions. The Carabinieri investigate and believe they are headed in the right direction. Together with Don Matteo, but taking different routes, they work together to uncover the truth behind the superstitious fears.
