Gubbio for Don Matteo

Splendid Gubbio is since 1998 the memorable set for the successful TV series "Don Matteo". With growing success, for nearly five years, the splendid stories of the citizens of Umbria have entered the homes of all Italians.
The breathtaking set of Piazza Grande, the monumental elegance of the Consul's Palace, Sant'Ubaldo, the Ducal Palace, but also every home, street and alleyway in which the medieval stones show off their still intact beauty...
All of Gubbio, with her atmosphere of time standing still, has been, by now, adopted by viewers of the television adventures of Don Matteo.
Thanks to the active and passionate involvement of all the citizens, Gubbio and her surroundings have been used as the exteriors and for most of the interior scenes of the three series already aired and of the fourth series which is in production. The town of Gubbio has always shown great generosity in putting at our disposal services, structures and means, allowing us to make quality episodes for this series, one the rare Italian series that has reached a fourth season.
Among the many examples of the maximum support offered by the municipal administration is the use of the old communal building in Piazza Grande that will always be, for the viewers of Raiuno, the Carabinieri office of our Marshal Cecchini and Captain Anceschi. If millions of Italians know and love "Don Matteo", it is without a doubt also because, via this series, they know and love Gubbio, the pearl at the center of beautiful Umbria.
