As it happened with Don Matteo's first series, the second one too conquered the entire audience's heart. Broadcast in primetime by Raiuno in Autumn 2001, it obtained 23.75% average share. A third series was practically inevitable!
In this pages, devoted to Don Matteo's new series, we will try to give you some news about the new episodes but we cannot reveal too much: we do not want to spoil the surprise to you!
We will naturally meet again all the same characters: besides Don Matteo, Captain Anceschi and warrant-officer Cecchini there will be Natalina, Nerino, Nonna Elide, Pippo and brigadiere Ghisoni, who will be more and more involved in the discussions between the Captain and the Warrant-officer.
All together again then, apart from great Gastone Moschin, who unfortunately could not confirm his presence again beacause of other work engagements. That's why in the series the bishop, friend of Don Matteo's, becomes a cardinal and will be substituted by another great and well-known actor, Renato Carpentieri. (in the picture).

In this series there'll be many guest stars, such as Elisabetta Cavallotti, Corinne Cléry, Sabrina Colle, Luana Colussi, Pierluigi Cuomo, Giada Desideri, Angelo Infanti, Andy Luotto, Jacqueline Lustig, Pierluigi Misasi, Caterina Murino, Hélène Nardini, Roberto Nobile, Novello Novelli, Massimo Olcese, Gabriella Pession, Giovanni Lombardo Radice, Elena Safonova, Barbara Snellenburg, Jinny Steffan, Fabio Testi, Adelmo Togliani and Luca Ward.
The actors of the series revealed that the new episodes will be more thrilling and we will discover new things about the characters' private life. For example we will know better the warrant-officer Cecchini's family and we will learn about his relationship with his wife and daughters. We will see Natalina in love and who knows if Cupid will strike the everlasting bachelor Captain Anceschi, too.
