The Return of Don Matteo
Two new aspects to the show: Giulio Base will direct, and there's a new female cast member, the beautiful showgirl Milena Miconi. Eight weeks of work in which Gubbio will be used to film only the exterior shots.

The fourth series starts for the Don Matteo crew,
back since June in Gubbio to film the external shots of the popular
TV series about the adventures of the Italians' beloved priest-detective.
The new producers, Lux Studios, will make the show that from the first
series to the last has earned an audience share that was the envy of
other shows: 30.84% in 2000, 23.75% in 2001, and 27.5% during the last
series which aired beginning in November 2002. They say they hope to
earn an even greater share with the new series. Among the changes, there's
the director Giulio Base, who will split the episodes with the director
Adrea Barzini.
Base is known for other TV series (like "Valeria medico legale") and
for films ("Poliziotti"; which includes a piece of Gubbio: an ambulance
from the hospital in Gubbio was used for several scenes). But one of
the most anxiously awaited changes is the introduction of a new female
character that will certainly leave her mark on Gubbio: the actrice
Milena Miconi who's come down from Bagaglino in the hills around Cittą
della Pieve, (where she's been busy with her colleague Arcuri in the
TV series "Carabinieri"), to the streets of Gubbio where she's to interpret
none other than the mayor of the town. The real mayor, Orfeo Goracci,
has kindly offered himself for advice and suggestions on the subject.
