 | A businessman who is dumping toxic waste into the irrigation system of a small piece of farmland is being blackmailed with compromising photographs.
The blackmailer insits he close down the waste plant, otherwise his wife will find out about his extramarital affair. The businessman goes to the police who immediately suspect the owner of the land | | and his lawyer who had previously tried to sue the businessman. Both are Don Matteo's parishioners and so the priest tries to help them. While investigations are still being carried out, the businessman's son is poisoned by the polluted water. | |
