	Nerino, and a lot of other people in town, have food poisoning. The source - they discover - is a dangerous pesticide that was sprayed on apples sold by Mr. and Mrs. Di Giacomo, bio-farmers. It is sabotage, or so says Mr. Di Giacomo. The investigation includes a neighbouring farmer who has a grudge against his neighbours. Another suspect is a seasonal worker who was fighting with the Di Giacomos because he was never paid. The Carabinieri, with Don Matteo's help, will uncover the truth.

	Several drug addicts die one evening, the victims of tainted drugs. Who is the pusher responsible for this? Thanks to an anonymous tip, more of the same bad batch of drugs is found in a tattoo parlour. The young woman who is the new proprietor of the business, has a history of drug use, and is questioned. After her release, suspicions fall inevitably on her ex- boyfriend who has just been released from prison on a drug pushing charge. But Don Matteo decides to investigate someone else.
